Saturday was our 5 year wedding anniversary. We celebrated by going to the Texas Roadhouse for some steak & ribs. It was really nice to be able to smile after the trying week we had.
Here are some flashback pics from our wedding and the hand ceremony that Mike performed that day.
The Hand Ceremony
Kristina, face Brian and hold his hands palm up so that you may see the gift they are to you. These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong, vibrant with love. These are the hands that will work alongside yours as together, you build your future. These are the hands that you will place against your belly one day until he too feels the child stir within you. These are the hands that are strong and hard yet will so gently hold your babies. These are the hands that will work long hours for you and your children. These are the hands that will wipe away your tears of sorrow and tears of joy. These are the hands that will tenderly lift your chin and brush your cheek as they raise your face to look into his eyes. These are the hands that look so young now, but you will have the joy of watching them grow old and weathered as they are used up in love for you. Kristina, place a kiss in the hand of your love and never forget how precious they are.
Brian, please take the hands of Kristina palms up that you may see the gift they are to you. These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong, vibrant with love. These are the hands that will work alongside yours as together, you build your future. These are the hands that will hold each of your children in tender love, soothing them through illness and hurt. These are the hands that are soft, gentle yet will smell of detergent and bleach at the end of some days. These are the hands that will work long hours making your home for you and your children. These are the hands that will massage tension from your neck and back in the evening as the pressures of life and the responsibility of family bear upon you. These are the hands that will comfort you when you are sick and console you when you are grieving. These are the hands that look so young now. Brian, you shall have the joy of watching them grow old and graceful as they are used up in love for you. Brian, place a kiss on the hand of your love and never forget how precious they are.
